Harry McKay has criticised a “minority” of Carlton fans for hurling abuse at the players in a video that went viral earlier in the week.
Both Ben and Harry opened up on their own personal experiences after a video of a Carlton fan telling players to “**** off” went viral.
“Yes, definitely (we talked about it), straight after the game,” Harry said.
“A lot of the younger boys were a bit rattled…we’re trying to create an environment where everyone feels safe, for families, for kids, for everyone that wants to come to the footy.”
Ben added that even the anticipation of copping abuse down the race can be confronting.
“You don’t want to say you get used to it,” he said.
“It pretty much breaks yourself as you’re walking down the tunnel, ‘who knows what they’re going to say’, (that) sort of thing.”
