Triple M Cricket favourite Travis Head spoke to the Rush Hour with Bernie, Blewey and Jars last night and gave an update on his injured hand and his availability for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
“I seen the surgeon yesterday, and I got away with no surgery which is sort of a positive,” Head said of the injury.
“[It’s] in a cast for the next sort of five weeks, four weeks with a CT scan at the end of that.
“So fingers crossed everything goes perfect.”

“I could feature later,” Head said of his availability for the World Cup.
“There’s no real time, sort of, set at the minute, or date set, we’ll see how it plays out in the next couple of weeks.
“Hopefully I feel a bit better and can make a quicker recovery and potentially could feature later on in the tournament.”
Head copped the fracture in his left hand in the fourth ODI against South Africa when he was struck trying to pull a short ball off Gerald Coetzee.
He was on 9 and facing his eighth delivery when the injury happened and tried to play on.
Head lasted three more deliveries before having to retire hurt.
Head said that he’ll leave no stone unturned to get a chance to play in the tournament.
“Every option’s on the table at the moment,” he said.
“Obviously I’d love to be there, I missed out four years… I got myself dropped.
“So to then be on the brink of a World Cup this year and hurt my hand is disappointing, so I’d love to be there, I’d love to try and do everything I can possibly can.”
The destructive left hander admitted that there’s a long road to travel, however.
“A lot of things have gotta go well, Blewey, to feature,” he said.
“But we’ll cross our fingers and try and do everything we can here at home, and hopefully the next four weeks I show enough improvement that I can potentially be there.”
Head’s injury came amid what ended up a disastrous ODI series against South Africa, with the Aussies streaking out to 2-0 series lead only to suffer three comprehensive defeats and lose the five match tournament.
Australia do have a last chance to tune up before the upcoming World Cup, with a three match series against hosts India starting tonight in Mohali.
The Aussies’ first fixture in the tournament comes against the same opposition in Chennai on October 8.
