Reports suggest that NSW Blues have turned to Michael Maguire for the vacant head coaching role after the departure of Brad Fittler.
The former Souths Sydney Rabbitohs premiership winning coach has not been officially unveiled as the new Blues boss, but Read explained what’s going on.

“My understanding is that he’s accepted the job,” said Read
“Looks like he’ll be the new coach next year, taking over from Brad Fittler.
“They [had] a few targets, they chased Ricky Stuart and they were interested in Craig Bellamy.”
Both options, head coaches of Canberra Raiders and Melbourne Storm respectively, would theoretically struggle to handle State of Origin and full-time NRL contracts at the same time.
Though Maguire, assistant at the Raiders and current head coach of the New Zealand national rugby league team, Read is also unsure if there is enough flexibility for the Blues job to be done successfully.
“He may be able to juggle both those roles,” stated Ready.
“But it’s a huge role, let’s be honest.”
Ready also explained how it could work and how Madge’s coaching set-up could look like.
