Richmond premiership star Alex Rance he knows Damien Hardwick “has made the right decision”, but is still in shock regardless.
Hardwick made the decision to step down from coaching immediately after 307 games and three premierships at Richmond.
Rance – who played in the first of those flags and also made a sudden decision to retire – spoke glowingly of his former coach on Tuesday’s episode of Footy Talk.
“Initially my reaction’s been in shock, but at the same time it’s probably not, knowing ‘Dimma’ the way he is,” he told Nick Riewoldt and Joey Montagna.
“For him to call it now, you know it’s right for him and you know it’s right for the club.”
Alex also spoke with Joey and Rooey about what he’s been doing since football, teaching the next generation of stars at the Academy!
Footy Talk isn’t missing a moment of footy this season, with Dale Thomas, Leigh Montagna, Abbey Holmes, Nick Riewoldt and more! New episodes every day at lunchtime – listen for FREE on the LiSTNR app.
