Will Day has told Dale Thomas and Heath Shaw on Footy Talk he would “love to have the honour” of skippering Hawthorn one day.

Day has been a crucial part of the Hawthorn resurgence in 2024, with the club winning five of their last six days coinciding with his return.

He’s also entered the leadership group this year.

And – while James Sicily is doing a tremendous job as skipper – he knows someone will one day need to take over the role.
