Ronald Dale Barassi, one of the greatest people in the history of footy, has passed away at the age of 87.
There could hardly have been a more deserving person to be anointed as the first ever Legend in the AFL Hall of Fame, with Barassi’s accolade-filled playing and coaching career speaking for itself.
Named as rover in the AFL team of the century, Barassi’s 254-game playing career yielded six premierships – five at Melbourne and one at Carlton – while his 515-game coaching career yielded a further four VFL flags.
Ahead of the AFL Semi-Final between Port Adelaide and the GWS Giants, Triple M Footy’s call team paid tribute to Barassi, with former dee Bernie Vince recalling his memories of the footy legend.
