Tex Walker confirmed on Roo, Ditts & Loz for Breakfast this morning that he has signed a contract extension at Adelaide.
“You’re a long time out of the game, so I wanna try and play as long as I can,” Tex said.
“The young kids are keeping me young and playing some good footy.
“So hopefully we can have another big year next year.”
Tex — who will go into his 17th season in 2024 — explained how he’s played career best footy at the age of 33.
“The last few years have probably helped, being able to get my body” he said.
“I’ve probably been a bit more proactive with my scheduling, and not wait until something gets sore, speaking up a little bit earlier.”
Tex said he’d gained a deeper appreciation of the limits of his body over the course of his career.
“Sometimes you’ve gotta push your body because you don’t know what your body can do,” he said.
“But now I’ve been able to get to a point where I know what to do a little bit earlier than other times.”

Tex has become an all time Crows great in since being drafted to the club from Broken Hill in 2007, playing 255 games and becoming the club’s all time leading goal kicker with 590.
He’s been the Crows’ leading goalkicker six times, and captained the club between 2015-2019.
Tex is in with a sniff of this year’s Coleman Medal, trailing leader Charlie Curnow by seven goals, and is in line to earn his first All-Australian blazer.
