Triple M Footy news breaker Jay Clark has given an update on the future of Melbourne’s out of contract premiership live wire Kysaiah “Kozzie” Pickett.
“The jungle drums beating last night, a report that contract talks have been put on hold with Melbourne, and that Port Adelaide are absolutely up to their eyeballs [in] conversations around Kozzie Pickett this morning,” Jay-Z said on The Rush Hour with Bernie, Blewey and Jars.
“That is news to them.”
Jay contrasted Melbourne’s relaxed attitude to Pickett’s re-signing with their fears about now-Docker Luke Jackson at the same time last year.
“If you go back 12 months, Melbourne was absolutely frightened about Luke Jackson leaving, and through from early in the year there was a good chance Jackson would leave, which he did to Fremantle,” Jay-Z said.
“This time round, they are much, much more confident on Kozzie Pickett staying.
“It still might take some more months yet to happen, I don’t think this is gonna happen in the early part of the season, but potentially, say, midway through the season…. unlike Jackson, they’re very confident they’ll get a deal done.”
