James Brayshaw Pays Tribute To Ben Cunnington

Former North Melbourne chairman James Brayshaw paid tribute to to retiring club legend Ben Cunnington on the Rush Hour with JB & Billy today.

JAMES BRAYSHAW PAYS TRIBUTE TO BEN CUNNINGTON:

“He’s a great man, Cunners… a freak, actually,” JB said.

“Very scant regard for the medical room.

“Almost never had a massage or a rub down.

“Just used to get in his car and drive home… and then turn up the next week and completely and utterly dominate!

“His work in the in the heat, in the phone box was just… it was ridiculous.”

Never miss anything with the Best of Triple M Footy playlist:

Cunnington holds the record for most contested possessions in a game, with the 32 he picked up against Richmond in 2018.

He picked up 20+ contested possessions on 21 different occasions — by far a record for North Melbourne.

MORE ON BEN CUNNINGTON:

JB said that Cunnington was most of the most widely admired men in footy.

“Everyone loved him,” he said.

“A ripping bloke, and he never carried on with any bullschlarken.”

JB has a good idea on Cunnington’s next move.

“He’s gonna head back down to Warrnambool, the farm, and we’ll highly likely never see him again.

“He’ll go out and fish for tuna, and bowl his cows around his big property down there.

“Good on him.”

MORE FROM THE RUSH HOUR WITH JB & BILLY:

JB leaned on the words of his nephew, Melbourne premiership player Angus Brayshaw, for the ultimate tribute to Cunnington.

“Praise comes no higher”, he said.

“My nephew Angus always used to say to me: ‘Ben Cunnington is hands down my favourite footballer.'”
