Latrell’s return from suspension was a night that he and the Bunnies would like to quickly forget, as the star fullback looked extremely underdone in his sides 28-14 loss to the St George-Illawarra Dragons.
James Hooper was full of praise for the efforts of several Bunnies despite the loss as South Sydney remain rooted to the bottom of the NRL ladder – in particular Cody Walker who notched up 200 games for the Rabbitohs.
“He couldn’t have possibly done anymore, it was a milestone game for him. The way he busted his gut last night could not have possibly done anything else to try and influence the result.” said Hooper.
“There were several other Souths players who had a red hot crack, Damien Cook, Michael Chee Kam, Jai Arrow.”
Hooper was far less complimentary in regards to Latrell Mitchell’s performance.
“Then there was Latrell, who sadly in his first game back from suspension was way off the pace.”
“Fitness wise I don’t know what he’s done in that three weeks that he had off because after 65 minutes he was absolutely gassed and he was caught out of position a number of times.”
