The Roosters could be given a huge boost to their outside back ranks with Wallaby star Mark Nawaqanitawase potentially set to join the Tri-colours in the next few weeks.
Brent Read revealed that Nawaqanitawase could be parachuted into the Roosters squad if he doesn’t get selected for the upcoming Olympics.
“The interesting element for the Roosters this weekend is a young Mark Nawaqanitawase the Rugby Union kid is over in Fiji at the moment with the Rugby Sevens team.”
“They should give him an indication in the next week or so whether he’s a chance to go the Olympics. If he goes to the Olympics the Roosters will need the dispensation to sign him potentially this year because he’ll be away in July, the cut off date is June 30.”
“If he doesn’t make the Olympic team there’s a chance he’ll make an immediate switch
to the Roosters which will obviously help them towards the back end of the year.”
