The Sharks status as premiership contenders is very much under question after they were obliterated by the Panthers 42-0 at home.
Speaking on Triple M’s Sunday Sin Bin, James Hooper raised doubts about Cronulla’s ability to compete with the Panthers despite the Sharks still sitting at the top of the NRL ladder.
“I think the concern for Cronulla is that the Panthers are clearly their kryptonite.” said Hooper
“Every time that they have come up against Penrith, who are the benchmark side for the last four seasons they they crumble in a heap.”
“I know they took it personally when people said that they thought they were pretenders and come September they’re going to get found out. To get blitzkrieg the way they did by a Penrith side without its best player, that set off a lot of alarm bells.”
