Newcastle prop Leo Thompson has informed the club that he wants to test his value on the market after rejecting an upgrade and extension.
“He’s on a really small deal next year he’s on around $350000, which is well below the market value for an international prop.” said Brent Read on The Rush Hour Sydney.

“He informed the Knights today that he’s set to go to November 1.”
“They’ve actually got an offer on the table for him, it’s an upgrade for next year plus an extension but Leo has opted not to take that up at the moment.”
“Doesn’t mean he’ll leave Newcastle, but he wants to see what’s out there for him and there’s a host of clubs that are watching the Leo Thompson situation really closely.”
“I won’t be surprised if there are 6 to 8 clubs coming for him.”
Thompson has played 64 games for the Knights since making his debut in 2022.
