James Tedesco’s omission was the biggest shock from Michael Maguire’s game 1 squad that was announced on Monday night.
Aaron Woods would have stayed the course with incumbent captain James Tedesco rather than making the bold call to hand Dylan Edwards the key’s the the Blues fullback job.
“I probably wouldn’t have had Dylan Edwards, I would have had James Tedesco as captain.” said Woods
“He’s the captain of the Australian squad, incumbent New South Wales[captain] I probably would have give him one more extra Origin to see what he’s got because he’s not playing bad for me.”
“On the other hand it’s so hard to leave Dylan Edwards out, he’s played on the wing for Australia and he’s leading the Dally M on 31 points at the moment. He’s just ticked every box, He’s ticked every criteria that you need to do.”
