The St George-Illawarra Dragons have been one of the big surprises of the 2024 NRL season so far. Many tipped the Red V to take home the wooden spoon but they currently sit 11th on the ladder with 5 wins and 5 losses.
Coach Shane Flanagan was proud of the way son Kyle has stepped up after inheriting the number 6 jersey after injuries and off field dramas for the Dragons.
“I think he has had a fantastic start to the season and I am proud of him because there’s always a bit of spotlight on him you know, probably because of me and really sometimes the criticism is probably not deserved.” said Flanagan
“It’s more about you know, some people having a shot at me ut I just think he’s he’s happy. He’s playing good football and there’s no real pressure on him he’s just got to go out there
and do his job and which he’s doing.”
“I think his combination with Ben Hunt has worked really well…at the moment he’s doing a really good job for us at number six.”
