“They’ve Won The Last Two Series How Can They Not Be Favourites?” | Jason Demetriou On The Maroons

Queensland have always been quick to embrace the underdogs tag, but with the slate of injuries to the NSW surely the Maroons are finally favourites?

Jason Demetriou thinks Queensland are definitely the favourites heading into this years series.

“They’ve won the last two series how can they not be favourites? They’ve pretty much picked the same side, the side is strong – they’ve got a couple of debutants, but overall it’s pretty similar.” said Demetriou

“Tino’s [Fa’asuamaleaui] is a massive loss for them, I think he’s been a standout for them over the last few years and gives them size.”

“They’re a good footy side, they’ve played together the last few years. This is New South Wales first game, what we don’t have is time to gel we’ve got to hit the ground
running in game one and that’s why I think Queensland are favourites.”
