Dylan Brown! Record-breaking contract! It’s dominated the rugby league news cycle over the last few weeks.
And the Parramatta Eels five-eighth will be calling Newcastle Knights at season’s end on a mammoth $13-14m, 10 year deal.
Though, there have been criticisms levelled at his new club for the contract that’s been offered.
But Michael Chammas on Triple M NRL’s Journos Show explained that with the salary cap increasing every 10 or so years, the Newcastle Knights may have pulled off a very smart signing.
“If he’s at $1.3m, $1.4m in the first few years of his deal, I would say that is massive overs for Dylan Brown,” started Chammas.
“But by the time we get to the end of it and he’s the player that they think he’s going to be, the Knights will be paying massive unders to keep him.
“So, they’re taking a bet.”
