The relationship between John Bateman and Benji Marshall has become so untenable that the Tigers are willing to pay another club half of his reported $600,000 salary to get him out the door.
“Benji Marshall wants him out the door more than anyone.” said Michael Chammas on Listnr’s Footy Talk League podcast.

Bateman however has informed the Tigers that he intends to honour the remaining two years left on his contract.
“John Bateman has no intention of playing for the Wests Tigers ever again.”
“Doesn’t want to go there, he will go there though to make sure he gets paid his final two years of salary.”
Manly are the frontrunners to land Bateman at his reduced salary but will need to move at least one player in their top 30 on to make it happen.
