Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has warned Yemen’s Houthi rebels will pay “a heavy price” after their missiles reached central Israel on Sunday for the first time.
The Iran-aligned group controls northern Yemen and claimed responsibility for the attack.
A military spokesman said the new hypersonic missile travelled over 2000 kilometres in only 11 and a half minutes.

Netanyahu said, “They should have known by now that we charge a heavy price for any attempt to harm us.”
The Israel Defence Force says it was intercepted by rockets from the Iron Dome, with no direct casualties.
However, a railway station and open ground near Israel’s main international airport were damaged.

Yemen rebels said the attack was carried out in solidarity with Palestine and that it was just the “beginning.”
A spokesperson said, “It forced more than two million Zionists to run to shelters for the first time in the enemy’s history.”
