Why Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Tickets Are A Hot Commodity

Taylor Swift’s Eras tour has taken over the globe and getting your hands on a ticket has become a hot commodity.

On Friday, general sale tickets will be released for Swift’s Australian shows – with all the Swifties who missed out during the first two presales trying one last go to get their hands on tickets.

There was so much demand for tickets (I mean, are we really that surprised?) that Swift on Thursday announced two “final” shows: a third in Melbourne and a fourth in Sydney.

But, what is it about Swift that has captured the hearts of so many, not just in Australia, but all over the globe?

On today’s episode of The Briefing, Shameless podcast host Michelle Andrews is a self proclaimed Swiftie and joins Katrina Blowers to explain the cultural moment.

“Taylor Swift has risen to the top because I think she has chosen to sacrifice some part of her privacy in exchange for that level of fame and success,” Andrews said.

“A lot of her songs are written about breakups. She’s written about her mother’s cancer, shs has written about grief before.

“I think with Taylor, she is willing to go there with her fans”.

Andrews added she believes there is so much demand for tickets as people have “FOMO” (fear of missing out).

It’s no longer just women, teenage and young girls wanting to see Swift live. It’s fathers, brothers, uncles and boyfriends.

“I think there’s a hufe element of FOMO. People don’t want to miss out,” she said.

“People know this will be a big thing, and it’s exciting!”
