Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew confirmed that the suspects are local individuals; however, no arrests have been made yet.

He said police would be committed to ensuring a safe environment for visitors during the festive season.

This incident adds to recent challenges for Fiji’s tourism industry.

Last month, seven tourists, including four Australians, were hospitalized after consuming cocktails at the Warwick Resort.

Health authorities are investigating the cause, with initial tests on the drinks showing no traces of methanol.
