Two women charged after vicious brawl at Accor Stadium

Two women have been charged by NSW Police, following a brawl at Accor Stadium in Sydney’s west over the weekend.

It follows reports that two people were assaulted after a football game at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday night.

The incident followed the end of the clash between Canterbury Bulldogs and Newcastle Knights, with almost 25,000 fans in attendance.

Members of the public and security intervened, and those involved left the scene shortly after.

Police were told a 21-year-old woman was knocked unconscious while a man, also aged 21, was assaulted while trying to protect the woman.

They were assisted at the scene by staff until the woman was taken to Concord Hospital for treatment for facial injuries and to undergo further testing. The man did not require hospital treatment.

Following investigations on Wednesday, two women, aged 35 and 37, attended Auburn Police Station where they were arrested and charged with affray.

They were granted conditional bail to appear before Burwood Local Court on Thursday, April 17.

The NRL said in a statement it will work with Accor Stadium and NSW Police to take action through its “Spectator Code of Conduct”.
