Two more teens charged over alleged shopping centre attack

Victoria Police have charged two additional teenagers in connection with the alleged assault of a security guard at a Bendigo shopping centre.

The 20-year-old guard was allegedly attacked by a group of teens on Monday afternoon.

He was punched, kicked, and dragged to the ground during the incident. The guard sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged from the hospital.

A 17-year-old boy from Long Gully was arrested on Tuesday and charged with affray, intentionally causing injury, and recklessly causing injury. He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear in children’s court at a later date.

A 16-year-old boy from Long Gully and a 14-year-old boy from California Gully have now been arrested and charged with affray, unlawful assault, and other related offences.

Both are yet to face court.

The attack has sparked outrage, with Premier and Bendigo East MP Jacinta Allan strongly condemning the violence.

Ms. Allan confirmed she had visited the shopping centre with her children just days before the assault.
