Would you queue up to get a whiff of a corpse flower?
Well, that’s how many Sydneysiders have spent their Friday hoping to catch a glimpse of ‘Putricia’.
Stay up-to-date on the latest news with The National Briefing – keeping you in the loop with news as it hits:
Putricia’s species, Amorphophallus titanium, is known to unfurl for only 24 hours, meaning plant lovers had a small window of opportunity to see her in her glory.
As she began blooming on Thursday, dedicated fans began lining up at Sydney’s Botanic Gardens, some waiting for more than three hours to catch a glimpse.
The gardens stayed opened until midnight and reopened again at 8am on Friday.
The Botanic Gardens said that since she began to open, there had been 10,000 visitors, while over 20,000 had visited since last Friday when the viewing was opened.
The gardens will remain open again on Friday until midnight, with Putricia expected to “fully collapse at some point tonight”.

The LiSTNR Newsroom headed over to the Botanic Gardens and spoke with people who went to see Putricia.
