Sydney Police Seek Driver In Suspected Fatal Hit-And-Run

Police are on a desperate search for a driver who allegedly abandoned a critically injured man on a road in Tamarama early Sunday morning. 

Paramedics rushed to Fletcher Street at around 4am, responding to distress calls regarding a man who had sustained critical injuries.

They administered CPR. However, the 28-year-old died at the scene. 

Detective Superintendent Adam Solah said one line of inquiry suggested that the incident may have been a hit-and-run.

“We don’t believe the deceased was on any sort of vehicle; it appears that he may have been a pedestrian,” he said.

“The family are obviously very upset and distraught, and our hearts go out to them having to find out such difficult news, so they are aware of what’s occurred.”

The deceased man, believed to be a local resident, was dressed in a blue buttoned-up shirt and tanned shorts at the time of the incident. 

Police are urging anyone who may have been in his company during the night to come forward with information that could assist the investigation.

Authorities have obtained “extensive CCTV footage” from the vicinity and are appealing to the public for any dashcam footage that could help with the investigation.
