Talks to end the Russia-Ukraine war are expected to take place this week in Saudi Arabia with the US and Russia in attendance, but early reports suggest Ukraine is not invited.
Days before Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin had a 90-minute phone call. It marked the first known contact between a US and Russian President in more than two years.
It is understood both agreed to start negotiations to end the war.

A delegation of Trump’s closest foreign policy advisors will be touching down in Saudia Arabia for the talks with their Russian counterparts.
Advisors include newly appointed secretary of state Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Michael Waltz.
There have been reports overnight that a delegation from Ukraine has not been invited.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky told NBC he wants his country at the negotiating table.
“I will never accept any decisions between the United States and Russia about Ukraine. Never. And our people never. And our adults and children and everybody, it can’t be. This is the war in Ukraine against us, and it’s our human losses.”
That’s a position that has EU backing with French President Emmanuel Macron calling an emergency meeting that’ll take place tomorrow.
According to a statement from his office the heads of government of Germany, the UK, Italy, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands and Denmark are expected to attend as well as other EU and NATO leaders.
The main fear is that the White House could strike a deal with Russia that’ll threaten European security.
