Queensland teenager charged with attempted murder of supermarket employee

A 13-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a supermarket employee with a knife in Ipswich on Monday.

The boy allegedly approached the 63-year-old staff member at Yamanto Central Shopping Centre around 5:25pm.

Police responded to the reports, finding the woman with serious injuries was then taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

It’s understood she remains at hospital in critical condition.

The boy fled the scene and was shortly after detained by members of the public before police arrived.

The boy is due to appear before Ipswich Children’s Court on Tuesday.

Police are appealing for anyone who has footage or information about the incident to come forward to assist with investigations.
