Only one third of Qantas flights arrived within 15 minutes of its scheduled landing time in October, according to latest data.
The latest monthly data from the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics revealed Qantas’ data was the worst of all airlines; with budget airlines even outperforming the Flying Kangaroo.
Rural carrier Qantaslink performed the best, with 77.2 per of flights landing on time, followed by Virgin, 73.9 per cent and Rex, 73.5 per cent.
While recording on 68 per cent of flights arriving on time, Jetstar also managed to outperform Qantas.
Qantas also recorded more than 10 services cancelled a day throughout the month – totalling to 356 flights or 4.3 per cent.
Again, this statistic ranked them the worst of all domestic airlines.
Rex was rated the best for cancelled flights, with a 2.3 per cent cancellation rate, while Virgin and Jetstar recorded a 4.1 per cent cancellation rate.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, a Qantas spokesperson said the airline aimed to record better figures during the Christmas period.
“We know how important it is for our customers to get away on time and we’re focused on making sure we deliver on the experience our customers expect,” they said.
A spokesperson for Virgin told the Australian Financial Review it was working hard to restore reliability to its airline.
“Factors including aircraft maintenance, weather, and air traffic controller shortages impacted our performance in October. We acknowledge current performance is below our standards and has not met some customers’ expectations,” they said.
