Qantas Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Perth After Engine Issue

Passengers aboard a Qantas flight bound for Perth from Melbourne were left shaken after the aircraft was forced to land with only one engine.

The incident occurred during the flight’s approach into Perth, prompting emergency procedures and a priority landing. 

Flight QF781 departed from Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne just after 8:30pm on Monday, with passengers initially experiencing what was described as a smooth journey.

However, the situation quickly turned tense, with passengers onboard reported hearing a loud bang.

According to a statement from a Qantas spokesperson, the flight crew enacted emergency protocols, including the manual shutdown of the affected engine.

“These aircrafts are designed to safely operate with one engine,” Qantas spokesperson said. 

“We know this would have been unsettling for customers on board and we thank them for their co-operation and understanding.”

Upon landing, emergency crews met the aircraft on the tarmac, a standard procedure for priority landings. 

In response to the incident, one passenger thanked the pilots and crew for their professionalism. 

“Just want to say thanks to the pilots and crew,” the passenger said on X.

As investigations into the cause of the engine issue continue, Qantas engineers are conducting thorough inspections of the aircraft. 

However, the airline has yet to determine the exact cause of the malfunction.
