Police Declare Monument Hill Bushfire In Albury Suspicious

Police have declared the fire on Albury’s Monument Hill suspicious, appealing for more information on the incident.

What initially appeared to be a vehicle fire quickly escalated into a bushfire on Saturday, prompting a rapid response from emergency services and sparking an investigation into the suspicious circumstances.

Upon arrival, responders were met with a startling sight – no burning vehicle in sight, but rather an advancing blaze engulfing the nearby bushland. 

Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Rural Fire Service attended and contained the fire. There were no evacuations or damage to nearby properties.

Albury police have launched an investigation into the incident, establishing a crime scene thorough examination. 

While the cause is not yet known, police have deemed it suspicious.

Community members are urged to come forward with any information, dashcam footage, or CCTV footage that could help the investigation.
