Police Charge Man With Murder Over Death Of Tatiana Dokhotaru

Police have charged a man in relation to the death of a woman in an apartment in Sydney’s south-west earlier in the year. 

Tatiana Dokhotaru’s body was found inside her Norfolk Street Unit in Liverpool at around 8PM on May 27. 

The grim discovery was made only 20 hours after the 34-year-old placed a call to triple-0.

Ms Dokhotaru is believed to have reported to police during the triple-0 call on May 26 that she had been assaulted by someone who was forcing her to handover money. 

Despite the call being cut-off before she could provide operators with her address, police did not arrive at the home for another three hours. 

The wrong address was associated with Ms Dokhotaru’s phone number which meant police were unable to locate the 34-year-old. 

Her body was eventually discovered by police following a phone call for a welfare check from a neighbour. 

Police actioned a search warrant at a home in St Clair at 6AM on Monday morning where they arrested 28-year-old Danny Zayat. 

Zayat has been transported to the Penrith Police Station before being formally charged with murder. 

He is set to face the Penrith Local Court on Monday.
