The board of the Mardi Gras parade has asked Police not to march in this weekend’s event, amid the investigation into the murder of Sydney couple Jesse Baird and Luke Davies.
A New South Wales police officer, Constable Beau Lamarre-Condon, has been charged with two counts of murder, after presenting himself to Bondi police station last week.

The bodies of the missing couple have been found by police on a property outside Goulburn, south of Sydney.
NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb said, “We have been participating in Mardi Gras for the last 20 years […] it would be a real travesty for this organisation to be excluded.”
Isaac Muller, one of Jesse Baird’s friends, told The Briefing how he wanted Jesse to be remembered:
Isaac Muller said this was meant to be Baird’s first time attending Mardi Gras.
“I know how proud and happy he would have been to be there,” Muller said.
“He spent all his free time chatting about how much he loved everyone, telling me about everyone he knew, everyone that was important to him,” he said.
“The thought of his family, that he was so close to, not having the closure that they deserve, is horrific.”
