Pizza Delivery Driver Stands Trial For Fatal Crash

A pizza delivery driver is currently on trial for allegedly causing a car crash that claimed the lives of two teenagers in September 2021. 

Ashley Brian Quadros, employed by Domino’s Armadale, faces charges of dangerous driving in a trial at the District Court in Perth.

The court heard that the 20-year-old was delivering pizzas when the vehicle he was driving, carrying six people, including himself, collided with a tree on Lake Road in Seville Grove. 

The tragedy claimed the lives of Mark Alexander Bogoni and Thomas James Saffioti, who were passengers in the car.

However, prosecutors contend that a “pattern of inappropriate behaviour” by Quadros, who was impersonating the social media character “Super Wog”, led to the loss of control over the vehicle.

During the trial on Monday, it was revealed that Quadros had taken his hands off the steering wheel and engaged in frivolous behaviour, impersonating the comedy character in the moments leading up to the crash. 

Witnesses stated that Quadros hit a curb before colliding with a tree on the left side of the car, causing “massive damage”.

During the incident, Maxwell Roso, a passenger sitting in the front seat, testified that Quadros had removed his hands from the wheel “for 10 seconds or more”. 

However, the defence argued that a nail in the tyre caused the vehicle to veer, forcing Quadros to overcorrect.

Despite Mr Roso’s account, Quadros’s defence counsel, Seamus Rafferty SC, emphasised that the time frame provided was an “estimation” and was not detailed in his initial statement to the police.

Quadros has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The trial continues as the court seeks to establish the cause of the crash.
