Over 90 dead following Israeli airstrikes in Gaza

Israeli airstrikes across Gaza have killed at least 92 people on Wednesday, including women, children, and two journalists.

This comes as Israel prepares to intensify its military campaign in the region.

The attacks targeted crowded areas in Gaza City and a school sheltering displaced civilians. This attack raises the total death toll in Gaza to over 52,000, according to Palestinian health officials.

Among the victims was freelance journalist Yahya Sobeih. Sobeih recently shared a photo of his newborn daughter before being killed in a market strike. Another journalist, Nour Abdu, died while covering an attack on a school-turned-shelter.

Both were confirmed dead by Gaza’s media office.

The escalation follows Israel’s approval of a plan to seize and control Gaza, including using private security for aid distribution and displacing civilians. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed uncertainty over the survival of three hostages previously believed alive.

This admission followed a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump, who indicated that only 21 of 24 hostages believed alive had survived.

In response to the escalating violence, UN experts have urged global action to prevent the “annihilation” of Palestinians in Gaza. The humanitarian crisis has severely worsened, with acute malnutrition on the rise and aid distribution disrupted due to Israel’s blockade.

Meanwhile, World Central Kitchen, a U.S.-based charity, has suspended its humanitarian operations in Gaza due to a lack of supplies and Israeli restrictions on aid entry. Over the past 18 months, WCK provided more than 130 million meals and 26 million loaves of bread, but it can no longer continue cooking or baking without new shipments. Though it will still attempt to distribute potable water where possible, food distribution has ceased.

As Israel prepares to intensify its operations, the situation in Gaza remains dire, with increasing casualties and a deteriorating humanitarian crisis.
