The Queensland Government has officially unveiled its plans for the 2032 Olympic Games, with major investments including a new main stadium at Victoria Park, a state-of-the-art aquatic centre in Spring Hill, and a 20,000-seat stadium at the RNA Showgrounds.
However, former Brisbane Lord Mayor, Graham Quirk, who was part of the original planning committee raised concerns, saying “we’ve missed the boat” on key upgrades.
While noting the city will have strong facilities, he told Triple M Brisbane with Marto, Margaux and Dan the timing for optimal delivery has passed for public transport and the road network spaces:

“I think the time has passed from them, particularly in the public transport and the road network space. I think we’ve missed the boat a bit there, but I think overall, we’re going to have some good facilities.” Quirk said.
