NSW Premier Announces $50 Million For Flood-Affected Central Western Towns

NSW Premier Chris Minns has promised $50 million to help towns heavily affected by flood in central western New South Wales.

The money will be used to help rebuild homes and properties, applying new materials that can withstand future flooding.

It has been almost a year since Eugowra was flooded, with buildings being washed away and two residents killed.

Other towns within the Cabonne district, such as Molong, experienced significant damage as well.

Funds will also be accessible to residents in the Forbes area, where substantial flooding persisted for several months.

“I want to make sure the money is on the table for those communities as we go through the difficult task of rebuilding the central west,” Mr Minns said.

The Independent state MP for Orange, Phil Donato, said the federal government should contribute the same amount.

“It’ll go a long way to helping local communities and families rebuild their lives and get back into their homes,” Mr Donato said.

“So I think it’s really important that we hear from the many residents in our area who have had a bad experience,” he added.

“That would make a hell of difference to not only the emergency services and the work that they’ve got to do but also the people who own those houses.”
