After years of pushing from pill-testing advocates, the NSW Government has confirmed a trial will start early next year.
The trial implemented by state police and NSW Health will last 12 months and see music festival goers at about 12 events able to submit their drugs for testing.

The trial hopes to prevent drug-related deaths and will begin in time for the 2025 summer festival season.
It’s expected to cost around $1 million.
Last October, the Minns government rejected calls to introduce pill testing after the deaths of two young men.
Premier Chris Minns stressed it’s only a trial and that “There is no safe consumption level of drug use”.
The trial’s purpose, Minns said, is “To reduce harm and save lives”.
