McDonald’s and KFC have reported fast food and chicken sales are down as Nationals leader David Littleproud says more needs to be done to help Australian families.
Chicken sales at retail outlets are down between five to nine per cent. Federal MPs have been briefed this is due to less families eating out to save on costs.

“Fast food which is normally the cheapest form of a night out. We’re seeing reduced sales at many of our fast food outlets and chicken is obviously the cheapest form of meat for those outlets,” Littleproud said.
“That’s a worrying sign for the nation,” he said.
Recently global giant McDonald’s recorded its first drop in sales in nearly four years, as customers cut back on spending.
