Stand-up comedian, writer and actor Cal Wilson has died today after a short battle with illness.
Surrounded by family and friends, the 53-year-old died at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.
Token Artists, which managed Wilson, said a “huge hole has been torn in the heart of our community”.
“Cal’s generosity, talent and friendship has been constants in the Australian comedy scene for the last twenty years,” a statement read.
“Cal was probably best known as a stand-up comedian who appeared at the Melbourne Comedy Festival 14 times and was a member of its board.
“Most recently, she co-hosted The Great Australian Bake Off… which was in production when Cal was first admitted into hospital.”
Wilson is survived by her husband, Chris, and son Digby.
