Monash IVF chief executive Michael Knaap has resigned after the fertility provider admitted to a second embryo transfer mistake.
In a statement to the ASX, the company confirmed it had accepted Mr Knaap’s resignation, thanking him for his leadership since 2019. He had also served as managing director of the Monash IVF Group since 2013.

The resignation follows revelations that, on June 5, a patient at Monash IVF’s Clayton laboratory in Melbourne was implanted with their own embryo instead of their partner’s.
This was a breach of the intended treatment plan.
It marks the second error of its kind in recent months.
In April, the company admitted a Brisbane woman was mistakenly implanted with another couple’s embryo. She later gave birth to a baby with no genetic link to her.
Monash IVF apologised for both incidents and said affected patients had been offered support.
Chief financial officer Malik Jainudeen has been appointed acting CEO.
