We fell in love with Michael Theo on Love on the Spectrum and now he’s embarking on an exciting new career.
Since the show, Michael has been busy hosting his podcast, Mr A+ with Michael Theo, doing Ted Talks and now is jumping into the world of acting, staring in ABC’s series Austin.
In this chat with Antoinette Lattouf, Michael explains the importance of neurodiverse representation on screen and how his search for love is going.
Listen to Michael’s chat on The Briefing here:
“It is extremely important because only neurodiverse actors can play neurodiverse characters because that gives an authentic portrayal of neurodiversity, he said.
“If a neurotypical actor tries to pull off playing a neurodiverse character, it’s not as authentic and it’s hard to connect with.
“Yes, we’re supposed to be doing what we can to spread awareness about neurodiversity and make sure that they’re included and therefore getting neurodiverse actors to play such characters is one of the best ways to spread awareness about it.”
And of course, we needed an update on how Michael’s search for love is going!
He is someone who knows what he wants and has seven non-negotiables for the person who wins his heart.
