NSW Health issues a measles alert after an infected individual visited several locations in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
Health officials report that the person stopped at The Bagel Co in Rose Bay, attended Easts Basketball League events at Waverley College, and visited Rose Bay Secondary College on Sunday before heading to a chemist on Tuesday.
They urge anyone who was at these sites to watch for measles symptoms, which can appear up to 18 days after exposure.

Public health physician Anthea Katelaris confirms that this marks the 18th measles case in the state this year. She advises anyone who has been exposed and later develops symptoms – including fever, runny nose, sore eyes, cough, and a red, blotchy rash that typically follows within three or four days – to contact their doctor immediately.
Moreover, Dr Katelaris stresses that patients should call their GP or emergency department ahead of time to prevent spending time in crowded waiting rooms and potentially exposing others.
Authorities note that the source of the infection remains unclear, although the individual recently travelled interstate where several measles exposures occurred. Meanwhile, NSW Health reassures the public that a measles vaccine is available for those aged over five at GPs and local pharmacies.
Officials list the following exposure sites:
- March 30 at The Bagel Co, 475 Old South Head Road, Rose Bay, from 7:30am to 8:15am;
- March 30 at Waverley College during Easts Basketball League events from 9:10am to 10:30am and again from 2:00pm to 3:40pm;
- April 1 at TerryWhite Chemmart Gaslight Rose Bay, 484 Old South Head Road, from 5:00pm to 5:30pm.
NSW Health continues to monitor the situation as the state works to contain the outbreak.
Health officials encourage anyone who visited the affected locations to remain alert for symptoms and seek medical advice promptly if needed.
