More than 100 organisations, including Save the Children, Oxfam and Mercy Corps, have issued a joint statement, saying: “We are outraged at the world’s failure to act to end the starvation of children, women and men in Gaza.”

“We call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and unimpeded humanitarian access.”

The statement came as Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry reported a further 10 Palestinian deaths from malnutrition in the past 24 hours.

Hospitals are overwhelmed, with children arriving severely underweight and dehydrated.

Elidalis Burgos, an American critical care nurse volunteering in Gaza, told NBC News that “an entire population” is suffering from starvation as a result of the Israeli blockade.

“There is just nothing getting in, hasn’t been getting in for months.”

UNICEF has labelled the situation “catastrophic”, with conditions for children worsening daily.

Aid groups are demanding immediate, unrestricted access to food, water and medical supplies, and a lasting ceasefire to prevent further civilian deaths.
