A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting three women, including an 80-year-old who sustained severe injuries, at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital.
The assailant, a patient at the hospital, is now facing multiple charges related to the assaults that occurred in the early hours.

Police responded to an emergency call from the hospital at around 3 am yesterday, reporting an assault on a patient.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers were informed that two women, aged 63 and 58, were grabbed and assaulted by the male patient.
The man allegedly punched an 80-year-old woman, subsequently choking her and slamming her head against a wall in the emergency department. The brutal assault caused the elderly woman to lose consciousness.
A spokesperson from Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital confirmed the severity of the incident, stating that the 80-year-old victim remains in critical condition.
“Immediate assistance and medical treatment was provided to the patients,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
“No staff were injured and staff who witnessed the incident have been offered counselling and support.”
The three other individuals involved in the altercation have been discharged after receiving immediate medical attention.
