Labor vows to spend on health, Coalition on national security 

It’s speculated the federal election will be called this week. The Prime Minister was unofficially campaigning yesterday, on his 62nd birthday.

The Nine Newspapers are reporting that the federal budget which is due at the end of this month is being converted into a pre-election economic statement.

Which they say means a likely April 12 election and an announcement this week.

Albanese committed six hundred and forty-million dollars on another fifty bulk-billing urgent care clinics around the country.  

The government said it’ll mean around 80 per cent of Australians could be living within 20 minutes of a Medicare clinic.  

All they need is their Medicare card,” Albanese said.

87 clinics have already been opened since the last election, treating around two million non-life threatening illnesses and injuries a year.
 
Leading doctors’ groups have previously criticised moves to expand urgent care networks without fully evaluating their performance.  
 
That’s a train the Coalition has hopped on, calling for an independent evaluation before saying whether or not they back the move.  
 
The Coalition has rolled out its own pre-election pledge to spend three billion dollars on stealth fighter jets.

The commitment to buy an extra 28 F35s if they win the election will take our total fleet to 100 and is aimed at boosting Australia’s defence sector.

Opposition leader Peter Dutton has also pledge to deport high-risk offenders, return all security agencies to the Department of Home affairs, restore temporary protection visas and bolster
