Australian music legend John Farnham has thanked his fans for their support in a statement declaring he is “all clear” of cancer.
Exactly 12 months ago today, Farnham underwent a 12-hour surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from his mouth and subsequent re-constructive plastic surgery.

It was followed by rehabilitation which included eight weeks of radiation and supplementary surgical produces as a result of complications and infections.
Last month, Farnham’s medical team formally told the 74-year-old he is cancer free.
In his first personal statement since his surgery on August 23, 2022, Farnham said “I am the luckiest man I know right now”.
“”It’s been a year since my first surgery and to be honest I’ve lost count as to how many other procedures there’s been since then. I’m sure someone’s kept track of them all – let’s just say, there’s been a few,” he said.
“It’s only now that I can start to appreciate and comprehend, for myself, how many messages of love and support have been sent to me over the past year.
“I don’t know what to say, other than thank you so very much. It honestly means the world to me.”
Farnham said, “today is a special day” and he would celebrate by having a pizza.
In the statement, the singer’s family also thanked everyone across the world for their messages and well wishes they had received during Farnham’s recovery and also to the “remarkable Melbourne medical professionals” who treated and looked after him.
