Jacinta Allan Named 49th Premier Of Victoria

Jacinta Allan is set to become Victoria’s 49th premier after Daniel Andrews steps down from his position at 5PM on Wednesday afternoon. 

Jacinta was elected to take on the position after running unopposed for the role at a Labor caucus meeting this afternoon.

Public Transport Minster Ben Carroll has been named as deputy premier. 

Allan’s appointment as Victorian premier follows her appointment to deputy premier in June of 2022. 

The 50-year-old was inducted into parliament back in 1999 as Member for Bendigo East.

Allan is currently Minister for Transport Infrastructure and Minister for the Suburban Rail Loop. 

Her intentions to take over the position were announced on X on Tuesday.
