All sides of politics have their own solutions to tackle rising rents, supply issues and soaring house prices, including assisting first home buyers and increasing the number of new builds.
Many have failed to address the sometimes underhanded tactics used by real estate agencies, and now there are calls for a royal commission to keep the real estate industry accountable.

“As far as the royal commission royal commission would be indicating there’s something illegal going on, and I don’t believe there is,” Westwood said.
Home values rose 0.6 per cent in February, with increases in every capital city except Hobart, according to CoreLogic.
The prospect of interest rate cuts later this year is generating more interest from potential buyers.
