Investigation Into Police Established Following Alleged DV Death

A full investigation has been established surrounding the death of a Sydney woman on Saturday night. 

Police are being looked at closely after a 34-year-old woman was found dead inside her apartment only a day after making a distress call to triple zero. 

Tatiana Dokhotaru was found dead with severe head injuries inside of her Sydney unit. 

Her death is being treated as suspicious.

Ms Dokhotaru’s partner Danny Zayat is currently in police custody and charged with a number of domestic violence offences. 

NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith said police received a triple zero call from Ms Dokhotaru on Friday evening reporting she was “being assaulted”. 

“Money was being requested by another person in the unit,” he said.

“She provided no name and the address for that phone call was a large block of units here in Liverpool.” 

Commissioner Smith said police were unable to figure out which of the units the call had come from. 

Ms Dokhotaru’s body was found inside her unit only 24 hours later after a neighbour contacted emergency services. 

A four-year-old child along with Zayat were also present at the property when police arrived. 

Police have alleged that Zayat breached his AVO and have since charged him with assault, damaging a TV and stalking.
