Hunter Biden, the son of US President Joe Biden, has been charged with three criminal counts in relation to firearm possession.
Biden, 53, was charged with two counts of making false statements, claiming he was not using illicit drugs when he bought a Colt revolver.

The third charge, based on the false statements, was he illegally possessed a gun, which can bring a 10-year prison sentence.
Biden’s charging documents allege he bought the gun in 2018 and provided a written statement “certifying he was not an unlawful user of, and addicted to, any stimulant, narcotic drug, and any other controlled substance, when in fact, as he knew, that statement was false and fictitious”.
A Delaware grant jury voted to pass on the charges to Biden, after a five-year investigation by the Justice Department
Biden’s indictment – as referred to in the United States – has create a unique situation for the Justice Department.
At the same time, it will be prosecuting multiple cases against former president Donald Trump and now the current president’s son, in the lead-up to the 2024 election.
A court date has noy been set.
